MFMG committed to Decision Making for Drought
22nd January 2025
By Katie Moorhouse

Through funding from the Australian Government's Future Drought Fund, MacKillop Farm Management Group will be rolling out a raft of activities as part of a proactive approach to preparing and managing drought.
‘Decision making for drought’ will demonstrate relevant existing research in cropping and grazing systems in the Limestone Coast, with the aim to increase adoption of research in local farming businesses. Workshops and some demonstrations will be conducted, in collaboration with relevant researchers and advisors, to localise results and provide regional context to research that has either been conducted elsewhere or conducted previously in the region.
Project Activities
The project will consist of 3 key activities in 2025:
1. "Dry Feed to Dollars" Workshop and demonstration sites - to be held on Thursday 6 February at Lucindale.
2. Livestock Cost of Production workshop - Thursday 19 June, Naracoorte
3. Nitrogen Budgeting: Back to Basics workshop - Friday 27 June, Hatherleigh
Together, these three activities form a well-rounded approach to equipping farmers with the knowledge, tools, and collaborative support necessary to navigate the challenges of drought and maintain the productivity and profitability of their farming operations. This integrated program aims to strengthen the overall resilience of the farming community in the long term.
Register today for the 'Dry Feed to Dollars' Workshop at Lucindale.
