Session 1: 'Pastures to Profit - Getting the Best from the Season'
After a tough run of low livestock prices and drought, conditions are finally turning in our favour. Livestock markets are strong, the 2026 season is off to an excellent start, and home-grown pasture remains the cheapest feed on the farm. The question is: are you getting the maximum return from every kilogram grown?
Improve the profitability and sustainability in your pasture-based livestock systems, by exploring how to:
- Get more value from peak-season pasture through better understanding of feed quality.
- Fine-tune mineral nutrition to balance diets and unlock cost-effective production gains.
- Improve grazing management and feed budgeting decisions.
- Use grazing records to benchmark performance and make better long-term planning decisions.
This is the first of four sessions in the Practical, Sustainable, Profitable (PSP) Livestock Group.
Future topics will be shaped by participants and focus on the key drivers of sustainable and profitable grazing businesses.
