Trial Site Visit and Update on the University of Adelaide Methane Reduction in Livestock Project
Friday 28 February, 2025
Joanna Hall and Struan Research Centre
Exciting developments are being made in demonstrating the potential of the seaweed Asparagopsis armata to reduce methane emissions in livestock, as part of a study being undertaken in the Limestone Coast.
You are invited to visit the current trial site of the University of Adelaide's 'Methane Reduction in Livestock Project' at Struan Research Centre, where gazing Angus cattle have been fed seaweed and other anti-methanogenic compounds to reduce methane.
Hear a progress update from members of the research team and see demonstrations of the on-farm devices that make it possible.
It's an opportunity to:
- Learn more about the research and how the results may translate 'on-farm'
- See how on-farm devices including greenfeed machines, low-cost handhelds and Agscent air are used to measure methane and gas parameters from livestock
- Discuss feeds and delivery methods used to reduce methane in livestock
