As we move through the challenging season, hear from topic experts on developing strategies going forward including:
- Managing your feedbase - grazing management and optimising Winter forage options
- Nutrition - considering early weaning, what that requires, and alternate feed sources
- Animal Health Management - managing herd health and prevention strategies for nutritional deficiencies
Casual Dinner - Free
Following the session, stay for casual bite to eat, speak with the presenters, catch up with mates, and enjoy some time off-farm.

Presenters
Ash Wachtel, Tailored Livestock Consulting (TLC)
Ashlee is the principal consultant at Tailored Livestock Consulting, based at Robe in the Southeast. She has 11 years’ experience in the livestock industry, after graduating from a Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Adelaide. Ash predominantly focusses on intensive and pasture-based sheep and beef production systems, to improve feed efficiency, health of the animal and the amount of saleable product produced. This year’s seasonal challenge has meant most of her consulting has been planning, budgeting, and managing containment feeding, lambing/calving requirements and early weaning.
Dr Andrew Hoare, SE Vets
Andrew grew up on a beef property in Southern Queensland and finished at the University of Queensland in 1996. After graduation he worked in South Western Victoria in a mixed dairy/beef/small animal practice before then locuming around Southern Queensland. After another stint in Victoria, Andrew purchased South East Vets in 2002.
He has been President of the Australian Cattle Veterinarians, is currently the South Australian representative for Australian Cattle Veterinarians and is also on the National Cattle Pregnancy Diagnosis Committee.
Andrew is passionate about helping other veterinarians develop their skills in ultrasound pregnancy diagnosis and is currently an accredited manual and ultrasound pregnancy tester and examiner. He also has interests in lameness in dairy cattle, reproduction, nutrition and medicine of cattle and sheep.

Rick Jordan, Rick Jordan & Associates & Gambier Seeds
Currently Manager and owner of Rick Jordan & Associates, Rick is also a part owner and director of Gambier Seeds (a pasture and cropping seeds business in Mount Gambier). Rick consults to a range of clients predominately in the South East of South Australia & Western Districts of Victoria as well as consulting to large scale international agricultural projects. He consults primarily on Strategic development of properties and enterprises. Rick’s key focus is on optimising production and quality parameters of forage systems to meet productivity and profitability goals of client farming enterprises.
