Project duration: March 2024 to September 2025

About the project

The project will implement a farm discussion group model in the Limestone Coast, engaging local primary producers and helping these producers to further group members’ knowledge, skills, and experience with current and emerging ag technologies, and the fit of these technologies on group members’ farms and in their businesses.

The AgTech Producer Group will gather twice per year in March and September for a mix of on-farm demonstrations and discussion group sessions.

Discussion group sessions will be interactive and involve peer-to-peer learning guided by the group facilitator. The discussion group sessions will be designed by the group, for the group, based on their feedback and specific goals of individuals in the group.

On-farm demonstrations will be designed by the group, and aim to show the application of various technologies on-farm. Significant peer-to-peer learning will occur amongst group members, as they are able to see

  • how technologies work
  • what the technologies can do for them on farm
  • what sort of data they can expect to collect
  • how they can learn to use the data to make better decisions on farm, and
  • why they might consider implementing these technologies on farm.

Project Activities

The aim of the MFMG AgTech Producer Group is to provide opportunities to learn:

  • Increased technical skills to enable group members to better utilise the technology they have, or to feel comfortable to adopt new technology.

  • Increased technical knowledge to enable group members to make the best decisions about adopting technology in their business.

  • Increased understanding of how to use technology in their business for the best outcome for the business.
