GRDC_NGN Spreader and sprayer set up workshops for South East SA

About the project

MacKillop Group's operations committee (grower representatives) identified a need to improve capabilities of local growers in optimising machinery performance through set up as a priority for the region. A number of areas for this set up improvement were identified including for sprayers, spreaders and harvesters. 

It is thought that assisting growers to optimise set up to avoid spray drift and improve efficacy of operations (spreading and spraying), that workshops would improve operating efficiency, efficacy of inputs and increase ROI. Training needs around these issues were also raised in the Naracoorte NGN Forum.

 

Project activities

By September 2026 at least 40 growers have improved their knowledge, abilities and skills in optimising set up of spreaders and sprayers and are motivated to adopt best practices on farm.
