About the project

Enabling change on the Limestone Coast – extension training for project officers to promote, support, or encourage the uptake of best practice agriculture in a changing climate.

The adoption of best-practice agricultural practices in the Limestone Coast relies on well-trained extension officers working with landholders from within grower groups, PIRSA, Landscape SA, and a variety of private advisory groups. The extension landscape has changed dramatically over the past 5 to 8 years, and many of the ‘old’ methods of extending new information, practices, and tools are no longer relevant to the modern farm business.

This project aims to introduce the current crop of extension providers to the latest in extension theory and practice. It will upskill these advisors, so they in turn can promote, support, or encourage the uptake of best practice agriculture in a changing climate with Limestone Coast landholders.

This project delivered a one-day workshop, facilitated by Danielle England, in Naracoorte during early December 2020, and covered topics such as:

  1. Defining extension
  2. Creating Engagement
  3. Facilitation of learning groups
  4. Easy evaluation
