Washpool Trial Information
Pasture trials being conducted at "The Washpool" from 2010
There are 4 x 4 hectare ‘plots’ sown on heavy black flat country as follows:
Mix 1 (our current standard mix)
- SARDI Persian Clover @ 2kg
- Paradana Balansa Clover @ 1kg
- Gosse Sub Clover @ 5kg
- Scimitar Burr Medic @ 2kg
- Sirosa Phalaris @ 2kg
Mix 2 (alternative grass mix)
- SARDI Persian Clover @ 2kg
- Paradana Balansa Clover @ 1kg
- Gosse Sub Clover @ 5kg
- Scimitar Burr Medic @ 2kg
- Barbaria Ryegrass @ 10kg
Mix 3 (Naracoorte Seeds recomendation for this environment)
- Trikkala Sub Clover @ 4kg
- Goulurn Sub Clover @ 4kg
- Prosper Tall Fescue (winter active) @ 3.5kg

Other information
- This (and the other trial sites once established next year) will be followed through with grazing and normal management for a number of years with pasture cuts and other measurements.
- Cuts done on this site on October 12th 2010 showed a range of 400 to 1200 kg Dry Matter between the treatments.
- 400 Merino weaners grazed it from Oct 14th to Nov 3rd (3 weeks); they were taken out partly because the feed was getting too far ahead of them and we were worried about flies in the tall pasture.
