Utilising Decision Support Tools to increase the adoption of no-till farming

This project aims to improve the understanding of and increase the adoption of Sustainable Farm Practices throughout the Upper SE region of SA.

It will do this by utilising soil moisture devices and combining this data with various decision support tools that
have been developed and successfully implemented in other areas, but that haven't been adopted in the Upper SE region.

These tools will be used to compare data (of the same soil-type) from Conventionally farmed systems to data from No-till farms where stubble retention to manage wind erosion and improve soil organic matter is a key focus.

Workshops will be run to extend the results and improve the adoption of Decision Support Tools and Management Practices to improve soil condition.

The Project Period is from December 2011 until 30 June 2013.

For further information please contact Felicity Turner on 0400 299 087 or mf.turner@bigpond.com

Funding for this Project is provided under the National Landcare element of the Caring for our Country initiative.
